Enter Shikari, Your Demise, Death Letters - Another evening in the Melkweg
Enter Shikari is an electronically influenced English post-hardcore band. The band has played a few times in The Netherlands before. They opened for The Prodigy in the HMH but also played some headline shows in venues like the Effenaar and the Melkweg. The evening was warmed up by Your Demise and Death Letters, which isn´t a common combination.First band to rock the stage was the Dutch rock-duo Death Letters. They're playing a lot of festivals and club shows this year because at the moment they're breaking through, but i don't know if it was the best opener for this evening. They were playing pretty good and some people in the crowd did love it. On the other hand most people couldn't wait before this band to end, because it was a little misplaced. When you got 2 post-hardcore bands it's a bit weird to open with a rock-duo. Although it was so misplaced, they sounded pretty good and they will probably play own headline shows very soon.
After Death Letters it was time for Your Demise and a lot of people came just to see this band. It was almost 2 weeks ago that they played in the Melkweg, but then they stood in de Oude Zaal at The Powerfest. Now they played in The Max and it really didn't matter that this stage was a little bigger. Still they nailed it and did a good job on the music and vocals. This was really a good warm-up before Enter Shikari would enter the stage. After some sing-alongs like "Miles Away" and "The Kids We Used To Be.." it already was time to leave for them and left the crowd at a hot venue and stunned from this great performance.
Last but not least headliner Enter Shikari would enter the stage, the venue was still as hot as hell which is a good thing. This was the first time i finally could see them live although i just knew one song, i always wanted to see them. From the first song The Max of the Melkweg exploded with a huge mosh pit. You could definitely see that they know how to rock the stage, because everything was good, his voice was good, the music was good, the energy was good and they had some interaction with the crowd. The singer was crowd surfing and walked over the bar to the back of The Max and they let people built human pyramids, something they do almost every show but certainly rocks. The biggest mosh pit was at their biggest hit "Sorry You're Not A Winner" and a lot of people left after this song because they believed it, it was a good show but some people just wanted to see that song. But it was a great evening and if you missed this don't worry, Enter Shikari and Your Demise will be back 3 October at 013, Tilburg.
